Senior Environmental Planner – Caltrans District 3

Position:
Senior Environmental Planner (Last Chance Grade Senior Specialist). Salary: $8,678–$10,783 per month.

Location:

1656 Union Street, Eureka, Humboldt County. Telework:
Hybrid. Full‑time, permanent.

• Coordinate environmental planning with the project development team and stakeholders for the Last Chance Grade (LCG) project.
• Ensure compliance with environmental laws, regulations, and policies; provide proactive approaches to requirements, submittals, and coordination.
• Facilitate partnerships with state and federal resource agencies and external stakeholders.
• Manage consultant‑prepared documents, contract oversight, and development of project mitigation opportunities.
• Respond promptly and well‑informed to project delivery issues.

• Minimum State civil service eligibility;
  Score on Senior Environmental Planner exam or be on the state examination list.
• Experience in environmental issues and planning, environmental laws and regulation, coordination and communication related to environmental planning, and development of project mitigation.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel frequently within the North Region; some field work may require travel outside the Region.
• Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) required – submit two topics from the list below, maximum 1 page, 12‑point font.
