We are seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant for a 7-day locum tenens assignment in Iowa, starting Jan 24, 2026. This ED/IP hybrid program features consecutive 24-hour onsite shifts, including both emergency department and inpatient responsibilities as the sole provider.

Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant - Schedule:
24-hour onsite shifts (12pm–12pm, last day handoff between 12-3pm)
Responsibilities and Duties
- Perform all procedures in the Emergency Department and inpatient setting
- Serve as the sole provider during 24-hour shifts
- Initiate rounds at 8 am with a multidisciplinary team (social worker/case manager, pharmacist, nursing)
- Conduct weekly rounding for swing bed patients to discuss transition of care
- Manage acute care for conditions such as CHF, cellulitis, COPD, and gastrointestinal cases
- Admit and round on patients
- Ensure appropriate length of stay (1-3 days acute/swing 8-10 days)
- Collaborate with hospital staff to ensure high-quality patient care
Additional Information
- Minimum 2 years of autonomous experience required
- Must be licensed to practice as a Physician Assistant in Iowa
- Board certification in Emergency Medicine required
- Experience and comfort working independently in both ED and inpatient settings
- Ability to perform all relevant procedures
