Job Summary
The Employee Relations & Human Resources Manager works collaboratively with tribal government departments and business enterprises to foster a fair, respectful, and compliant workplace culture. This position serves as a trusted advisor to leadership and employees on employee relations matters, workplace policies, and personnel practices, ensuring alignment with applicable laws, regulations, guidelines, and the Moapa Band of Paiutes’ policies and procedures.
The role emphasizes employee relations, performance management, policy interpretation, conflict resolution, and organizational support, while maintaining essential human resources functions. The Employee Relations & HR Manager plays a key role in promoting consistency, accountability, and transparency across the organization, supporting both traditional personnel practices and forward-looking workforce needs.
Duties- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field OR a minimum of two (2) years of direct, relevant human resources or employee relations experience OR executive-level experience in an organization overseeing employee relations and/or human resources functions.
- Preferred minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in HR or employee relations.
- Strong working knowledge of employee relations practices, personnel policies, performance management, and disciplinary procedures.
- Knowledge of employment laws, EEO, employee benefits, and personnel administration principles.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations tactfully and professionally.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively—verbally and in writing—with employees at all organizational levels and across diverse backgrounds.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple time-sensitive matters with minimal supervision.
- Proven ability to exercise discretion, sound judgment, and maintain strict confidentiality.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and general computer systems.
- Ability to work independently while also supporting team and organizational needs.
- Preferred experience working within a Tribal government or Tribal enterprise environment.
- Must be dependable, service-oriented, and adaptable to changing priorities.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured under Tribal insurance.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check and alcohol/drug screening.
