Supply and Logistics Associate, G‑6, Gaza, State of Palestine, Temporary Appointment (364 days)
Join UNICEF as a Supply and Logistics Associate and help safeguard children’s rights across Gaza and the West Bank. UNICEF works in over 190 countries to save children’s lives, defend their rights, and help them fulfil their potential.
Key Responsibilities- Provide input to the Country Programme Action Planning and advise on supply requirements for the Plan of Operations and Annual Work Plans.
- Participate in forecasting, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of supply chain operations, including establishing performance indicators.
- Monitor and analyze supply dashboard reports to track key supply and logistics performance indicators.
- Coordinate with programme sections and supply colleagues to follow up on pending actions, ensuring timely and effective supply responses.
- Provide logistics input to the supply plan, advising on infrastructure constraints and different delivery mechanisms.
- Support budgeting for delivery modalities and ensure commitment of financial resources with programme colleagues.
- Use supply dashboards to monitor pipelines and establish appropriate logistics capacity.
- Monitor offshore and regional procurement, ensuring timely customs clearance of supplies.
- Produce reports from data collection and analysis to enable informed decision‑making.
- Provide specialised support in logistics, following standard processes and contributing to effective supply delivery.
- Identify needs for contracting third‑party logistics services and support the management of contracting, KPIs and performance monitoring.
- Manage documentation processing for logistics operations and resolve operational issues, escalating complex cases to the supervisor.
- Arrange UNICEF warehouse facilities and operations in line with UNICEF policies and procedures.
- Assess warehousing capacity and propose corrective actions.
- Maintain warehousing and inventory management processes to support programme implementation.
- Prepare stacking and storage plans to optimise space utilisation.
- Supervise receipt of consignments and dispatch of supplies.
- Prepare stock reports and monitor inventory tracking trends.
- Carry out physical counts of inventory and prepare documentation for commodity disposal.
- Participate in partnership meetings to support harmonised procurement and logistics arrangements.
- Support capacity‑building of government counterparts and improve supply chain processes.
- Provide operational and logistical support for end‑to‑end supply chain strengthening initiatives with partners.
- Support the organisation of capacity‑building activities, including training and knowledge‑sharing sessions.
- Support emergency preparedness and response activities, including LTA establishment and pre‑positioning of stock.
- Monitor pre‑positioned stock levels and delivery schedules to avoid bottlenecks during emergencies.
- Develop and facilitate training for newcomers and create manuals for effective workflows.
Completion of secondary education is required, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to supply chain, business administration, contract/commercial law, or another relevant technical field.
ExperienceA minimum of 6 years of relevant administrative experience in supply chain management or a commercial context is required. Understanding development and humanitarian work is an advantage.
Flexibility Clause: A bachelor’s degree from a recognised academic institution in a relevant field may replace three years of related work experience. A master’s degree may replace an additional two years.
Language RequirementFluency in English and Arabic is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) is an asset.
