Summary Description
Performs assembly of wind turbine power transmissions and their subassemblies. Works from blueprints, parts lists, and assembly cards. Uses parts washers, freezers, ovens, cranes, fork trucks, hand and power tools. Will shim and final assemble gear units. Can work alone, with other assemblers, and oversees lower grade assemblers. May perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Necessary Prior ExperienceIn order to do this job at a minimum satisfactory level, the employee must have had prior work experience in a particular kind of job in the company, or in a similar job with a different employer, stating the kind of such experience that is required, and must be able to meet many of these requirements.
- Basic Knowledge of Lean
- General shop safety training
- Shop computers
- Parts washer use
- Crane operation and safety
- Proper use of chains, shackles, and straps
- Oven or induction heaters operation and use
- Must have the ability to be trained by peers
- Hydraulic torque wrench use, including torque specifications
- Proper Loctite use (sealants)
- Measuring equipment use (mic's, veneres, etc.)
- Knowledge of bearings
A combination of formal education, training, and experience to acquire knowledge and skills generally equivalent to those possessed by an experienced high school graduate. Typically 0‑2 years prior experience in applicable industries. High School or GED.
