Welds components for hydraulic cylinders, rods, and tubes according to specifications. Responsibilities include fixture setup, tacking, welding, maintaining weld and component quality, using computer programs, and performing cleaning and maintenance.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Welds components for hydraulic cylinders, rods, and tubes.
- Keeps welding spatter to a minimum, using spatter guards and/or protectors as appropriate.
- Removes spatter with manual or power equipment, as necessary.
- Monitors and corrects weld defects (cold lap, porosity, undercut, etc.).
- Enters required information into the computer.
- Completes routing sheets according to the next required process.
- Directs part overruns to correct location(s).
- Washes all components before welding.
- Completes welding processes according to production standards.
- Sets up tack fixtures according to production standards.
- Performs daily maintenance and clean up.
- May be required to operate a welding robot as needed by the department.
- Is a productive member of his/her department and adheres to all Rosenboom policies, including safety requirements/procedures, to ensure a safe working environment for all Rosenboom employees.
- Habits of good attendance and punctuality are an essential responsibility of all Rosenboom job positions.
- High school diploma or GED, preferred.
- Related post‑secondary training and/or experience, preferred.
- Applies common‑sense understanding to basic work processes.
- Carries out detailed written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
- Reads and interprets sketches and prints.
- Demonstrates a working understanding and practical application of shop math (fractions, percentages, ratio and proportion, practical algebra, geometric construction, and essentials of trigonometry required to interpret prints and produce quality parts).
- Analyzes problems common to welding and identifies the root cause.
- Measures components and assemblies to verify conformance to the print (tape measure, scale, caliper).
- Demonstrates working knowledge of gases and power sources used in the welding process.
- Applies common sense understanding to basic work processes.
- Carries out detailed written, oral, or diagrammed instructions.
- Reads and interprets sketches and prints.
- Demonstrates a working understanding and practical application of shop math.
- Analyzes problems common to welding and identifies the root cause.
- Measures components and assemblies to verify conformance to the print.
- Demonstrates working knowledge of gases and power sources used in the welding process.
