Position: 1st Shift CNC Machining Supervisor
Department: Machining / Manufacturing
Schedule: 1st Shift
Reports To: Plant Manager / Operations Manager
Employment Type: Full-Time
We are seeking an experienced CNC Machining Supervisor to lead our first-shift machining operation. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for directing daily production, developing machinists, maintaining quality standards, and ensuring the department meets safety, productivity, delivery, and efficiency goals.

- Lead and supervise first-shift CNC machining operations and personnel.
- Coordinate daily production schedules and ensure customer requirements are met.
- Monitor production performance, efficiency, scrap, downtime, and quality.
- Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, GD&T, and CNC programs
. - Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to CNC machinists and operators.
- Work closely with programming, engineering, quality, maintenance, and production planning teams.
- Ensure machines are properly set up and operating within established standards.
- Assist with tooling selection, setup, offsets, feeds, speeds, and process improvements.
- Train, coach, and develop machinists and machine operators.
- Establish accountability for attendance, productivity, quality, and safe work practices.
- Identify bottlenecks and implement continuous-improvement opportunities.
- Maintain appropriate documentation, production records, and quality requirements.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
- Support preventive maintenance and communicate equipment issues to maintenance.
- Help establish and maintain standardized work instructions and operating procedures.
- Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, quality, and continuous improvement.
- 3+ years of CNC machining experience
, preferably in a production manufacturing environment. - Previous supervisory or lead experience in a machining environment.
- Strong understanding of CNC mills, lathes, or other CNC equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
- Experience with CNC setup, tooling, offsets, inspection, and troubleshooting.
- Strong understanding of machining processes and production flow.
- Ability to effectively lead, coach, and hold employees accountable.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Operations.
- Experience with CNC programming
. - Experience with Mastercam, Fanuc, Haas, Mazak, Okuma
, or similar systems. - Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, or continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of SPC and statistical process control.
- Experience working in a high-mix or low-to-medium-volume machining environment
. - Technical degree, machining certificate, or equivalent hands-on experience.
We're looking for more than someone who can simply manage a schedule. The successful candidate will be a working machining leader who understands what happens on the shop floor and can earn the respect of experienced machinists.
You should be comfortable getting involved when a machine goes down, a setup isn't working, a quality issue develops, or production falls behind. At the same time, you'll be responsible for developing your team and creating an environment where people take ownership of their work.
