MMC Group is seeking a dependable, mechanically inclined Fabricator / Machine Operator for a manufacturing opportunity in Harlan, Iowa. If you enjoy hands-on work, operating equipment, and producing quality metal components, we’d like to connect with you.
Candidates must currently reside within 30 miles of Harlan, IA to be considered.
What You’ll Do- Set up, adjust, and operate fabrication equipment, including CNC press brakes, metal rollers, punch presses, shears, saws, drills, and grinders.
- Read blueprints, technical drawings, work orders, and production instructions.
- Use calipers, micrometers, squares, and gauges to verify dimensions and quality.
- Inspect materials and finished components to ensure they meet specifications.
- Make machine adjustments and perform basic troubleshooting.
- Record production quantities, inventory transactions, and labor hours using computerized systems.
- Operate forklifts and overhead cranes after completing required training and certification.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace and follow established safety procedures.
- High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
- Strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to interpret blueprints, work orders, and operating instructions.
- Basic math skills, including fractions, decimals, measurements, and metric conversions.
- Dependability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently and with a team.
- Willingness to complete in-house forklift and overhead crane certification training.
- 1–2 years of manufacturing, metal fabrication, or machine operation experience.
- Experience with CNC press brakes, punch presses, metal rollers, or similar equipment.
- Familiarity with precision measuring tools and ERP or computerized production systems.
- Welding experience is a plus.
Training will be provided on specialized equipment.
Physical RequirementsThis position involves extended standing and walking, bending, reaching, stooping, repetitive movements, and lifting or handling materials in a manufacturing environment. Candidates must follow safety procedures and use required protective equipment.
