Full‑time: 36‑40 hours per week, open to the position being 32‑36 hours.
Preferred QualificationsChemotherapy experience is preferred but not mandatory. Chemotherapy training will be required within six months of hire.
Job DescriptionMonroe County Hospital & Clinics is seeking a full‑time Registered Nurse to join our Infusion Center team.
Primary Duties- Takes vital signs, documents in patient chart, and assists with procedures as requested by providers and their staff.
- Assists in scheduling patients and making reminder phone calls.
- Serves as liaison between patients and providers’ offices.
- Works with teammates to oversee the daily operations of the Infusion Center.
- Administers chemotherapy agents, blood product transfusions, and all medications according to nursing standards and protocols.
- Performs IV starts and access to VADs for the administration of drugs as needed, for example, CT scans, echocardiograms, lab draws, etc.
- Performs dressing changes and assists patients with outpatient procedures/treatments as ordered.
- Assess patients and contacts provider with patient status changes.
- Works closely with the MCHC pharmacy and external pharmacies to schedule the ordering of specific drugs in a timely manner. Orders additional non‑pharmacy supplies according to protocols and maintains stocked rooms in a clean and orderly fashion.
- Coordinates scheduling of outpatients for treatments on weekends/holidays with the Med/Surg unit.
- Acquires prior authorizations for medications, etc. as needed.
- Provides patient education when appropriate.
- Assists with quality improvement activities.
- Regular and reliable attendance.
- Ongoing compliance with MCHC educational and training requirements.
- Adheres to the MCHC mission, vision, values, and Standards of Behavior.
- Maintains patient and hospital confidentiality.
- Promotes and maintains positive relationships with patients, visitors, coworkers, and providers.
- Actively participates in department huddles, in‑services, meetings, and educational opportunities.
- Follows all departmental policies and procedures and adheres to departmental budget.
