JOB SUMMARY:

The Resident Assistant is responsible for attending to resident care needs and ensuring residents' well-being.

$13 an hour + Shift Differential

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Answer the resident call system promptly (within 5 minutes).
  • Maintain daily communication with the RN Manager and read the daily communication log.
  • Attend to all care needs of residents, scheduled or as they arise.
  • Set up tables in preparation for meals.
  • Assist with serving meals, including bringing residents into the dining room, serving drinks and food, and verbally cueing residents needing assistance.
  • Help with meal cleanup, including clearing dishes, wiping down tables and chairs, following sanitizing protocols.
  • Collect garbage from all resident apartments daily, remove wet or soiled incontinent supplies, and take garbage to the dumpster at least once per shift.
  • Assist with activities as requested or assigned, coordinating with the Activity Director as needed.
  • Document any unusual incidents, medical information, or concerns in the communication log, including vital signs and changes in resident conditions. Report significant changes or emergencies to the RN Manager immediately.
  • Apply proper transfer techniques and body mechanics when assisting residents, using gait belts as appropriate.
  • Perform housekeeping duties in common areas and light cleaning in resident apartments, including changing beds, cleaning bathrooms and kitchens, and managing incontinent accidents promptly.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Maintain daily contact with residents, families, and the Nurse Manager.
  • Coordinate external contacts with residents’ families and prospective residents, primarily handled by the Nurse Manager.
  • Prepare appointment papers, including copies of MAR, vitals, and communication sheets.
  • QUALIFICATIONS/SPECIFICATIONS:
    • Well-groomed, cheerful, and enthusiastic.
    • Age 18 or older.
    • Enjoys working with the elderly.
    • Ability to perform frequent lifting of up to 50 lbs and occasionally more than 50 lbs.
    EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
    • Must be at least 18 years old.
    • High school diploma or equivalent GED.
    • Certified Nurse Aide certification is helpful; we will pay for the Med Manager course if not already certified.
