PRN Peri-Anesthesia RN

Franklin General Hospital is seeking a dedicated and skilled PRN Peri-Anesthesia RN to join our surgical services team. This position is responsible for providing safe, high-quality nursing care to patients during the pre‑anesthesia and post‑anesthesia phases of care. The Peri‑Anesthesia RN will work on an as‑needed basis to support scheduled procedures.
No weekends, Holidays or call shifts.

• Assess and prepare patients for anesthesia and surgery, including reviewing medical history and completing pre‑op checklists.
• Monitor patients during recovery in the PACU, ensuring airway safety, pain control, and hemodynamic stability.
• Administer medications and manage IV therapy as directed by operating provider and/or anesthesia providers.
• Provide patient and family education regarding post‑operative expectations.
• Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately in the EMR.
• Collaborate with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and other team members to ensure continuity of care.
• Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and hospital policies.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain required competencies.

• Current RN license in the State of Iowa.
• Minimum of 1 year of peri‑anesthesia, PACU, or critical care experience preferred.
• BLS required. ACLS and PALS preferred, can be obtained after hire.
• Strong assessment, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• Ability to respond quickly to changes in patient condition and work in a fast‑paced environment.
• Flexibility to work variable shifts based on surgical schedule and staffing needs.

PRN (as needed); hours will vary based on surgical schedule and staffing needs.
