Conservation Seasonal Naturalist/Resource Technician
Clayton County Conservation, Elkader, Iowa is accepting applications for the Seasonal Naturalist/Resource Technician position.
Responsibilities- Work with the Clayton County Naturalist/Resource Manager on environmental education and natural resource stewardship duties.
- Independently design and construct nature center displays.
- Write articles for the conservation newsletter.
- Assist with summer day camps for area youth.
- Collaborate on programming at public libraries and childcare centers.
- Perform natural resource management duties including invasive species removal, seed harvesting, plant propagation, wildlife survey, and trail maintenance.
- Supervised use of tools and/or chemicals as required.
- Work full day in extreme temperatures; physically demanding position.
- Some coursework in biology, ecology or natural sciences.
- Bonus: coursework in environmental education, interpretation, or outdoor recreation.
- Experience with simple hand and power tools.
- Ability to work with people of all ages and communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Pre‑employment physical and drug testing required.
$14.00 per hour, 40 hours per week. Weekend and night hours required. Position begins in April/May and season will run 14 weeks.
