Starting Rate of Pay: $18.17 per hour.
Days: 180 student days with additional days for kitchen set‑up prior to first student day and required continuing education. Hours are subject to change based on kitchen needs and will be determined by the Director or Kitchen Manager.
Employee will be required to report at normal time during late starts but will not work on unexpected school closure days (snow days).

Job Goal:
Prepare or assist in the preparation, cooking, and serving of a variety of nutritious and attractive foods to students in a safe and cost-effective manner that supports the district goals.
FLSA Status:
Non-Exempt. Part time. Hourly.
- Dishwashing, warewashing, sanitizing tables, trash disposal, and serving.
- Food preparation, cooking, baking, and other clean‑up duties as required.
- Assist in the preparation, cooking, and serving of a variety of nutritious foods to students.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Perform other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators.

- Certified on an employee's medical examination form to be fully qualified in health.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Ability to read and calculate standardized recipes and have experience and/or knowledge in quantity food preparation.
- Regular attendance.
- Follow oral or written directions.
- Operate cash register efficiently.
- Assist with serving and clean-up of all equipment such as stoves, refrigerators, pots, pans, and satellite equipment.
- Maintain high standards of sanitation and safety.
- Help in any areas when needed, may use all equipment.
- Assist manager in proper handling, storage, and rotation of foods.
- Notify manager when supplies are needed or when equipment needs maintenance or repair.
- Maintain records as needed in an organized manner.
- Perform all other related food service duties as directed.
- Handle chemicals in commercial strength detergents and cleaning solutions.
- Work standing and/or walking for long periods of time under extreme temperature conditions.
- Frequently lift or move up to 53 pounds efficiently on a regular basis.
- Manual dexterity to operate equipment related to general food preparation, including reaching, standing, talking, hearing, tasting, smelling, walking, and operating tools or controls.
- Commercial kitchen setting with hard surface floors and temperatures ranging from 50 to 98 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Noise level in the work environment is quiet, moderately loud, or loud.
- Employee must wear uniform and appropriate hair restraints as approved by Food Service Director and/or state/county authority at all times in food preparation and dining areas.
- Must tolerate chemicals in commercial strength detergents and cleaning solutions.
Days of service are specified in contract language. Salary is established by the Board.

Knowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesWorks in standard office and school building environments. Kitchen can pose very warm, humid, or cold conditions.
Education- High School diploma.
Successful prior experience preferred but not required. Work environment can be warm or cold and must be adaptable.
