Fiber Optic Splicer

Overview

Communication Data Link is looking for candidates with an interest in a Fiber Splicing career. We have openings for individuals looking to get their career started as well as an opening for an experienced Splicer. As a Splicer you will need to perform the following tasks. We will provide as much training as needed to help you succeed in this role.

• Provide complete Outside Plant Splicing (OSP) and Inside Plant Splicing (ISP) fiber splicing services.
• Hot cut work, emergency testing, and restoration.
• Long Haul Aerial or Underground
• Entrance Cabinets
• Distribution Panels
• New Builds & Extensions
• System Cutovers
• Retrofit/Upgrade Splicing
• Overbuild Full System Splicing
• Fusion / Mechanical splicing
• Emergency Restoration Audit Inspection Service / Reel Testing
• Troubleshoot;
  Test with OTDR and Power Meter

• Combination of work experience and/or technical training in an industry-related trade certification or education program
• Excellent manual dexterity and able to see different colors
• Working knowledge of health, safety and environmental protection practices and procedures.
• Proven ability to guide safe work practices in a high-pressure environment while maintaining project quality, schedule, and budget
• Must be capable of handling logistics and crew assignments (preferred)
• Experience operating and performing work in a bucket truck, man-lift, etc. (preferred)
• Valid Iowa Driver's License
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet) and perform work on uneven surfaces
