Principal Software Engineer

You will be using your skills and expertise to define, design, develop, test, certify and improve cutting-edge software products. These cover a wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You will perform coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting of systems and software throughout the development process.

Your technical duties involve the design and development of new software products throughout the product lifecycle.

The ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance), Aviation, and Security (IAS) business area is a leader in ISR and aviation. Its end-to-end Command, Control, Computers, Communications and Intelligence, Surveillance & Reconnaissance (C4

ISR) capabilities encompass design, integration, test, certification, ground/flight training and complete logistics support. • Provide deep technical understanding of software, software system design, and systems engineering
• Own the software architecture and baseline for command and control mission systems and autonomous systems
• Provide definition of software practices and procedures
• Design system of systems from clean sheet design and solve complex problems on existing systems
• Contribute to software engineering proposals where you will perform task definition and estimating work to accomplish those tasks
• Work across the organization to align software needs and ensure a consistent product

• Bachelor’s of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related discipline and typically 14 or more years of relevant experience
• Higher education may substitute for relevant experience
• 3 or more years of relevant software architecture and system design experience
• Advanced capabilities using Computer Aided Engineering tools
• Demonstrated knowledge of engineering principles and practices
• Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams
• Knowledge of software engineering principals, practices, and processes including software life cycle, Dev Ops, configuration management, testing, hardware integration, cybersecurity
• Communication skills to effectively communicate technical concepts and software architectures to technical and non-technical audiences
• Knowledge of Government Reference Architectures (GRA)
• Experience architecting and developing command and control systems
• Experience using a Modular Open System Approach (MOSA) to develop modular and open system architectures
• Experience developing software using open system standards such as Open Mission Systems (OMS) and Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE)
• Experience in the aerospace and defense industry
• Desire to drive system architecture making an impact on a software engineering team

• Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) experience
• Experience in mentoring software engineers
• Understanding of industry standard software languages such as C, C#, C++, HTML, Java, Python, and Bash
• Experience with software tools for requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, library and artifact repository, and automated build
• Experience with containers and orchestration technologies
• Experience developing safety critical software using safety-critical software standards (DO-178C)
• Experience in the design and development of autonomous platforms
• Experience integrating and implementing AI/ML into system designs
• Masters Degree in Computer Science
