PAY RATE: $12.00/hr

The Swim Instructor is responsible for the safety in and around pool area and ensuring high quality swimming instruction following YMCA Aquatic Program guidelines. To be successful as a swim instructor, you should demonstrate patience and enthusiasm and be able to motivate students to accomplish their swimming goals. Ultimately, an exceptional swim instructor should be able to communicate effectively with students and ensure that all water safety rules are adhered to.

• Ensure safety of all participants.
• Follow the YMCA national guidelines for all swim lessons.
• Evaluate each student's performance during swim sessions and providing feedback, complete attendance, progress, and accident reports, and ensure that all swimming aids and equipment are in good working order.
• Prepare and follow lesson plans for each swim instruction lesson.
• Clean and store teaching equipment properly.
• Assist lifeguard on duty with any emergency situation in the aquatics area.

We are looking for someone who displays the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility and adheres to our mission. Prior Swim Lesson instruction experience preferred, but not required. Swim Instruction training also provided by YMCA. This position is open to candidates ages 16 and older.
