The Ames High School coaching staff is seeking a Head Girls Swim Coach for the 2026-27 season.

Work Schedule
: 2-3 hours per day Monday-Friday with various nights and weekends during the season.

Responsibilities/Essential Functions

• Leads a successful high school girls’ swim program.
• Organizes and supervises swim meets and practices.
• Attends all practices and has the ability to coach at an individual, small group, and team level.
• Manages assistant swim coaches.
• Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators.
• Communicates effectively with coaching staff, student‑athletes, parents, and school administration.
• Participates in special events to include banquets, award nights, and pep assemblies.
• Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.
• Abides by strict confidentiality at all times.

Qualifications

• A current Iowa Department of Education coaching authorization.
• Concussion certification.
• Previous swim coach experience.

The successful candidate will:

• Create a sense of belonging and a welcoming environment for all athletes, families, and staff.
• Attend work on a consistent and punctual basis.

Compensation: $5,834 season stipend
