Principal Accountabilities:
• Logs into IFS and "build" trucks for daily production (trucks to be solidified by 10:00am 2 days before production day
• Verify routing of trucks to accommodate fabricator delivery windows
• Work with dispatcher on assigning VTI drivers to loads
• Assign loads to outside vendors
• Collaborate with customer service to resolve any orders not processed for any given production day
• Log into Samsara (ELD) to track drivers’ progress on deliveries and ensure they are on track.
• Inform customer service of any delays with Fabricators
• Review drivers’ daily logs to ensure compliance
• Take action on any driver issues relating to deliveries
• Review driver performance (late deliveries, skid tips, customer relations)
• Schedule all truck and trailer repairs with approved vendors
• Collaborate with dispatcher on all LTL shipments
• Schedule board pickups with approved carriers or as a backhaul with VTI equipment and drivers
• Schedule all laminate pickups utilizing box truck
• Prepare weekly freight cost information in Smartsheet for bi-weekly meeting with Logistics Manager
• Review current route 's and adjust if needed to improve freight cost
• Assign new customers to route customer service
• Collaborate and process drivers’ paperwork for payroll
• Call customers to coordinate delivery appointments, revising as necessary
• Coordinate potential 3rd party Backhaul opportunities with empty VT return routes
Position Requirements
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Knowledge of truck dispatching, DOT laws and regulations, and 5+ years’ experience in the transportation field
- Prefer operations, supply chain, logistics / transportation, or highly analytical work experience
- Strong qualitative skills and competency working with large sets of data in Excel, Smartsheet, and other analytics tools as needed. Certification in the use of these tools is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to think creatively to improve processes and solve problems
- Proven ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external team. This may include cross-functional relationships as well as relationships with carriers.
- Must have good customer service skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
- Microsoft Office skills; PC Miller and AS 400 / IFS experience beneficial
- Must be detail oriented
- Able to work with people at all levels within the organization
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Able to work 8 to 10 hours daily as required, 5 days per week

Physical Requirements
Tolerance for sitting long periods of time. Possess finger dexterity to write, type, and use a calculator. Maintain adequate vision to view small print and computer terminal. Ability to speak and hear, walk throughout facilities with occasional light lifting (25 pounds), stooping, kneeling, crouching, and reaching with hands and arms required. Ability to travel between multiple facilities as required to perform core job duties.
