Responsibilities
  • Supervise campers and counselors, create activity schedules, and assist with administrative tasks.
  • Work with leadership to cover roles at one of two camp bases, acting as the primary supervisor of either the 5‑6 year old or 7‑14 year old group.
  • Collaboratively create and plan a thoughtful schedule of educational and fun activities.
  • Supervise, support, and drive weekly activity schedules implemented by Camp Educators.
  • Coordinate and supervise the Counselor‑in‑Training (CIT) program, spearheading hiring and communications with CITs and CIT parents.
  • Perform administrative functions of camp (parent communications, paperwork, etc.).
  • Act as transportation coordinator for scholarship families.
  • Supervise campers as needed to provide breaks for Camp Educators.
  • Participate actively in camp planning and staff evaluation meetings.
  • Act as a Health Care Supervisor, coordinating and overseeing first aid and camper medications.
  • Manage photo and video content for parent communication and internal marketing.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Candidate is pursuing a degree or career in education, science, humanities, conservation/stewardship, or outdoor/environmental fields (Bachelor’s preferred).
  • 1‑3 years experience as a camp counselor, classroom teacher, informal educator, or childcare provider with children ages 5‑14; environmental education experience preferred.
  • Interest in outdoor education, especially in a coastal environment.
  • Experience supervising a team and providing constructive feedback.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a group.
  • Strong initiative and prompt task completion.
  • Positive attitude, flexibility, commitment to goals.
  • High regard for teamwork and collegiality.
  • Commitment to physical and emotional well‑being of campers and staff.
  • Physical and mental ability to teach outdoors under challenging weather.
  • Lifeguard certification desirable but not required.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds.
Eligibility Criteria
  • Minimum age 21 years old by start of camp.
  • Full availability for staff training weeks (June 8‑18) and all nine weeks of camp (June 23‑Aug 22); optional part‑time availability for pre‑camp preparations beginning in May.
  • CPR and Basic First Aid certifications.
  • ACA Camp Director course certificate.
  • Current authorization to work in the U.S. by first day of employment.
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Satisfactory criminal background (CORI) check.
