The RoleAs the Assistant Camp Director, you will be responsible for supervising campers and counselors, creating activity schedules, developing programs for the camp, and assisting with the administrative tasks necessary to run a successful and engaging camp for campers, families, and staff alike.
Specifically you’ll- Work together with the leadership staff to cover roles and responsibilities at one of two camp bases on The Crane Estate, acting as the primary supervisor of either the 5‑6 year old or 7‑14 year old group.
- Collaboratively create and plan a thoughtful schedule of educational and fun activities.
- Supervise, support, and drive the weekly activity schedules implemented by Camp Educators.
- Coordinate and supervise the Counselor‑in‑Training (CIT) program, spearheading all hiring and communications with CITs and CIT parents.
- Perform administrative functions of camp (parent communications, paperwork, etc.).
- Act as transportation coordinator for our scholarship families to secure transportation from partnering organizations to camp.
- Supervise campers as needed to provide breaks for Camp Educators during the day.
- Participate actively in camp planning and staff evaluation meetings.
- Act as a Health Care Supervisor, along with the Camp Director, by coordinating and overseeing first‑aid and camper medications as necessary.
- Manage photo and video content intended for parent communication and internal marketing.
- Other duties as assigned.
- The ideal candidate is pursuing a degree or career in education, science, humanities, conservation/stewardship, or outdoor/environmental fields. (Bachelor's degree in education or science preferred)
- 1‑3 years’ experience working as a camp counselor, classroom teacher, informal educator, and/or childcare provider with children ages 5‑14, environmental education experience preferred.
