Job Type: Onsite
Duration:
April – September

Location:

Crane Beach, Ipswich, MA

What You’ll Do:

Crane Beach is visited by more than 350,000 people annually. As an EMT on the summer public safety team, you will be the lone EMT at the First Aid Station, treating walk‑in patients and responding to emergencies on the beach and elsewhere on the Crane Estate property. You will coordinate first aid/rescue efforts with lifeguards, rangers, and outside agencies such as police, fire, and ambulance.

On busy weekends and holidays, a second EMT may also be on duty. When you are not providing medical care, you will lead the First Aid Office, manage supply inventory, and handle radio dispatch for summer staff.

Specifically, you’ll:
  • Check all equipment at the beginning of each shift, including AED, first aid bag, oxygen equipment, extrication gear, First Aid station treatment cart, and cabinet.
  • Monitor radio communications to dispatch rangers, lifeguards, and staff as required.
  • Maintain a daily logbook.
  • Operate transport vehicles as needed, including pick‑up truck, ATVs, and UTVs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements –

What You’ll Need:
  • Massachusetts EMT Basic or higher certification.
  • Current CPR Healthcare Provider certification.
  • Complete all training required by the Massachusetts Office of Emergency Medical Services and provide documentation.
  • Experience as an EMT and ability to lead response in emergency situations as the only licensed EMT on property.
  • Work effectively with a varied clientele.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet the Trustees Driving Policy.
  • Background check required.
  • Flexibility to work nights and weekends.
Eligibility Criteria:
  • Variable outdoor weather conditions.
  • Ability to lift 125 pounds with assistance and carry up two flights of stairs.
  • Current authorization to work in the United States.
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record as outlined in the Trustees driving policy.
  • Criminal background check (CORI).

We still want to hear from you! Research shows that historically marginalized groups are less likely to apply if they do not meet every single requirement. We are committed to building a diverse team and encourage you to apply even if you are missing some of the skills and experience above.
