Crane Beach, Ipswich, MA
As a Lifeguard at Crane Beach, you will be on duty daily from Memorial Day weekend until Labor Day. In this lead guard position, you will manage a team of Seasonal Lifeguards to ensure beach safety, supervise duty stations, and act professionally in emergencies.
- Provide a supervised and safe swimming area within the guarded section of the beach.
- Serve as Manager on Duty for Lifeguard Team.
- Assist in the creation, communication, and management of staff schedules.
- Oversee safe and timely opening and closing of beachfront.
- Ensure patrons follow posted rules and regulations.
- Provide emergency care to patrons in the swim area and other sections of the property.
- Maintain all safety equipment, vehicles, and supplies.
Skills and Experience
- Red Cross or Trustees approved lifeguard training;
Waterfront Certification recommended. - Current certifications in O2, CPR for the professional rescuer, AED, and first‑responder First Aid.
- Ability to maintain concentration for long periods while monitoring changing patron and environmental conditions.
- Ability to communicate professionally with the public and represent The Trustees.
- Ability to run one mile in a sandy environment.
- Ability to swim one‑quarter mile in ocean conditions (may include rough or seasonally cold water).
Eligibility Criteria
- Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be able to work in variable outdoor weather and water conditions throughout the summer.
- Must be able to assist with putting a boat into and out of an ocean surf.
- Some light lifting may be required.
- Driving an ATV or Gator may be required at times.
- Current authorization to work in the United States by the first day of employment.
- Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record as per The Trustees’ driving policy.
- Satisfactory criminal background (CORI) check.
