Senior Technical Accountant

We are working with a large multinational insurer who are looking to appoint an experienced Senior Technical Accountant to join their Ipswich team.

This is a key role within the technical accounting and statutory reporting function, supporting statutory accounts, technical accounting papers and Group reporting, while providing advice on complex accounting matters across the business.

• Support the preparation of statutory financial accounts in line with relevant accounting standards and reporting deadlines.
• Prepare technical accounting papers and provide input on key audit topics.
• Investigate and advise on new and emerging technical accounting issues.
• Provide technical accounting guidance and training to Finance and wider business teams.
• Support independent reviews of balance sheet reconciliations.
• Ensure relevant financial controls and documentation are maintained.
• Build strong relationships across a complex, matrixed organisation.
• Apply strong knowledge of insurance, reinsurance and investment accounting.

• Strong knowledge of IFRS, FRS 101 and FRS 102.
• Qualified accountant or equivalent through significant relevant experience.
• Experience with financial accounting, statutory reporting, audits and reconciliations.
• Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Able to work independently, manage competing priorities and explain complex accounting matters clearly.
• Insurance experience is essential, with a strong understanding of insurance and reinsurance accounting.
