Position: Executive Assistant to the Archdeacons & Designated Officer

Executive Assistant to the Archdeacons & Designated Officer for Clergy Appointments

Full‑time (35 hours per week). £30,000 – £32,000 per annum.

We are seeking an experienced PA/Executive Assistant to provide high‑quality support to the three Archdeacons of Sudbury, Suffolk and Ipswich. The successful candidate will also act as the Designated Officer for Clergy Appointments, working closely with our Clergy HR Administrator to oversee clergy recruitment and appointment processes, ensuring all appointments are conducted lawfully, safely and in accordance with diocesan and safeguarding requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Diary management for senior leaders, coordinating competing schedules and appointments.
  • Preparing meeting materials, taking minutes and following up on action items.
  • Communicating with lay and clergy stakeholders and handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Managing aspects of the clergy appointment process, learning and applying governance and regulated procedures, and collaborating with the Clergy HR Administrator to deliver a seamless end‑to‑end recruitment and appointment cycle.
  • Ensuring compliance with safeguarding, DBS checks, and other statutory requirements.

Desired qualities and experience:

  • Strong organisational and problem‑solving skills.
  • Confidence, initiative and willingness to learn new governance and regulated processes.
  • Experience managing multiple diaries and supporting senior leadership (preferred).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders.
