John Banks Group is looking for an experienced Car, Electric Vehicle (EV) & Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) Technician & MOT Tester to join our busy Ipswich workshop.

Working within our Renault & Dacia dealership, you'll have the opportunity to work on a wide range of passenger cars, electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles and light commercial vehicles, using the latest manufacturer diagnostic equipment while benefiting from ongoing manufacturer training and career development.

The Role

As a Car, EV & LCV Technician & MOT Tester
, you'll be responsible for maintaining, servicing, diagnosing and repairing customer vehicles to the highest manufacturer standards, helping us continue to deliver exceptional levels of customer satisfaction.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills across petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric vehicles within a modern multi-franchise environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics and repairs on passenger cars, electric vehicles and light commercial vehicles.
  • Perform advanced fault finding using manufacturer diagnostic systems and specialist equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical and electronic vehicle systems.
  • Complete digital Vehicle Health Checks (EVHC) and electronic workshop reports accurately.
  • Carry out manufacturer warranty repairs in accordance with manufacturer guidelines.
  • Undertake MOT testing (where qualified).
  • Complete brake, steering, suspension, clutch, timing belt, exhaust and air conditioning repairs.
  • Carry out high-voltage EV diagnosis and repairs where appropriately qualified.
  • Work closely with Service Advisors, Parts Advisors and fellow Technicians to maximise workshop efficiency.
  • Support apprentice and junior technicians where appropriate.
  • Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
What We're Looking For
  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Vehicle Maintenance & Repair.
  • Previous experience working within a franchised dealership or professional independent workshop.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
  • Experience working on modern petrol, diesel, hybrid and electric vehicles.
  • Experience working on Light Commercial Vehicles would be advantageous.
  • Excellent attention to detail and pride in delivering quality workmanship.
  • Good communication and team-working skills.
  • A positive attitude with a commitment to outstanding customer service.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • MOT Tester Licence (Class
    4).
  • EV/Hybrid Vehicle Qualification.
  • Air Conditioning Certification.
  • Experience with ADAS calibration and advanced vehicle technology.

£32,000 to £37,000 plus Bonus negotiable for experienced technician OTE £45K
