Commercial Manager

The Opportunity

A well-established and growing supplier and installer of specialist building products to the UK residential construction sector is seeking an experienced Commercial Manager to lead a key commercial division.

This senior leadership role offers the opportunity to influence business strategy, strengthen customer relationships, drive new business growth, and oversee critical commercial functions including estimating, order processing, and technical support.

Working closely with the senior leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring projects are competitively tendered, commercially successful, and delivered in line with customer expectations.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with key residential developer and contractor clients.
• Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within existing and prospective accounts.
• Lead and develop the estimating function, ensuring accurate and timely tender submissions.
• Oversee the order processing team, ensuring efficient project handover from quotation through to contract delivery.
• Manage technical support teams to ensure product specifications and compliance requirements are met.
• Take ownership of pricing strategies, commercial negotiations, and profitability across the division.
• Collaborate with operational and senior management teams to support business objectives and growth plans.
• Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and future project opportunities.
• Attend client meetings, site visits, and industry events as a professional representative of the business.
• Drive continuous improvement across commercial processes, systems, and team performance.

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be a commercially focused leader with experience within the construction products, building materials, glazing, fenestration, or related sectors.

Essential Experience

• Proven commercial, sales, account management, or business development experience within the construction industry.
• Strong background managing customer relationships and developing business opportunities.
• Experience leading and developing commercial or operational teams.
• Demonstrable success in pricing, negotiation, and margin management.
• Excellent communication, relationship-building, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong organisational and planning abilities with the capacity to manage multiple priorities.
• Commercially astute with a proactive and solutions-focused approach.

Desirable Experience

• Experience working with residential house builders, developers, or main contractors.
• Knowledge of windows, doors, glazing, façades, or wider building envelope products.
• Understanding of estimating, technical support, and project delivery processes within a manufacturing or construction environment.
