Base pay rangeFixed term until July 2030, full time, 37 hours per week (1.0 FTE)
Lecturer:
Band 6 - £43,482 to £48,823 per annum
Senior Lecturer:
Band 7 - £50,253 to £58,226 per annum
We seek to appoint an experienced Environmental Health professional to become course leader for our new Environmental Health Practitioner apprenticeship and BSc (Hons) Environmental Health degree. We invite applications from candidates who are currently members or fellows of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) with experience of training or course delivery. We are looking for someone able to teach a selection of the following areas: governance, environmental law, compliance, environmental protection, the science of environmental health, data for environmental health, food safety, occupational health.
We will appoint at either Lecturer or Senior Lecturer level depending on experience, education, and teaching experience. The course is delivered through both face‑to‑face and online modes of delivery so developing digital learning skills for online platforms and classroom‑based learning is a key part of the role.

Environmental Health Practitioner sits within the Business and Law area due to the importance of governance, compliance, and environmental law to the profession. The team works closely with other areas within the university with expertise in public health and the science of environmental health. The wider School offers a portfolio that includes law, criminology, sociology, business, technology, arts, and education courses driven by the interests and passions of an inter‑disciplinary staff team.
The business and law team are collegiate, skills‑focussed with a passion for developing an innovative curriculum.
- You should be focussed on apprentice success so they can become skilled environmental health officers.
- You will be a member or fellow of the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health.
- You will be able to develop excellent working relationships with employers, practice educators, the wider apprenticeship team and the business and law team to develop and grow the course.
- You will be an enthusiastic, friendly, innovative, and talented environmental health professional with teaching experience or equivalent training experience.
- You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will be committed to the delivery of outstanding teaching, and the provision of an excellent apprentice experience.
