About The Post

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Lecturer in Computing to contribute to the delivery, leadership and continued development of our undergraduate and postgraduate Computing provision within the School of Business, Arts, Social Sciences and Technology.

Our Computing portfolio includes pathways in cyber security, software development, web and mobile technologies, network engineering, and artificial intelligence, delivered through hands‑on, interactive and industry‑focused teaching. You will play a central role in delivering high‑quality, student‑centred learning and assessment, supporting student achievement, and contributing to scholarly activity, research, and knowledge exchange.

As a Senior Lecturer, you will provide academic leadership within your discipline. This includes leading modules or courses, contributing to curriculum development, mentoring colleagues, supporting quality assurance processes, and contributing to academic management and strategic development within the subject area of Technology and Engineering. You will also be expected to maintain an external professional profile and contribute to knowledge exchange, consultancy, or scholarly activity that enhances learning, teaching and student outcomes.

The delivery and development of core Computer Science subjects is essential for this role. Experience of teaching and/or developing provision for Degree Apprenticeships is highly desirable, and applicants with knowledge of relevant apprenticeship standards are particularly encouraged to apply. This role has a strong emphasis on learning, teaching and knowledge exchange, with research activity appropriately aligned to these priorities.

In addition, we are keen to attract candidates with research or scholarly interests in Non‑Terrestrial Networks, Quantum Communications, or Free Space Optical Communications, who may contribute to the University’s QOD Lab initiative. The Quantum Optics Infrastructure provides an advanced collaborative environment for studying atmospheric propagation effects on quantum and classical optical communications and supports real‑world testing via satellite communications, linking the East of England with the Scottish Space Cluster.

This offers an exciting opportunity to enrich research‑informed teaching and applied innovation.

About The Team

You will join the Computing team within the Technology and Engineering subject area, part of the wider School of Business, Arts, Social Sciences and Technology. The team delivers a diverse portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and is committed to inclusive, high‑quality education that responds to industry needs and student aspirations.

We pride ourselves on a collaborative, supportive culture where colleagues work closely across teaching, scholarship and external engagement. The team values innovation in pedagogy, reflective practice, and strong links with employers and professional bodies.
