As part of our mission to elevate education everywhere, we’re thrilled to be delivering the Attendance Mentorship Pilot Expansion (AMPE), a vital programme commissioned by the Department for Education to address the national pupil attendance challenge.
We’re looking for a compassionate, proactive and driven Attendance Mentor to join our team in Ipswich. While you’ll have the flexibility to work remotely, most of your time will be spent directly supporting students in secondary school settings.
Responsibilities- Provide tailored one-to-one mentoring to severely or persistently absent pupils
- Work with families, schools and local services to identify barriers to attendance
- Support pupils in schools and safe community spaces, helping them re-engage with education
- Create action plans with practical steps to improve attendance and outcomes
- Manage a caseload across three pupil cohort waves each year
- Work collaboratively with DfE teams, school leaders, and multi-agency partners
- Contribute to the continuous development of best practice in attendance mentoring
- GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C or above
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills – written, verbal, and listening
- Mentoring or coaching experience with young adults
- Confident using iPads to complete session write-ups and access Thrive software
- Resilience
- Knowledge of safeguarding practices and working with vulnerable learners
- Experience of multi-agency working and relationship building with schools and partner organisations
- Ability to plan and manage your own workload effectively
- Understanding of school systems and the wider educational landscape
- Comfortable working autonomously and taking initiative
- Access to a reliable internet connection (6mb down / 1mb up or better)
- A mentoring qualification (or willingness to undertake training)
- Completion of the Level 3 Coaching and Mentoring course (required within the first year and funded by Etio)
- Experience in developing and delivering individual support plans
- Experience using referral networks and specialist agencies
- Knowledge of the local Ipswich education landscape
- An evolving and ongoing CPD offer that responds to training needs, including internal and external training on topics such as school systems, SEND, safeguarding, restorative practice and more
- Thrive Licensed Practitioner training
- Growth in confidence with case management, school engagement, and impactful mentoring techniques
