What we are looking for

TCHC is seeking an inspiring individual with a passion for supporting young people in education. We want someone who can build positive relationships with learners who may have learning differences, who is enthusiastic, determined, and resilient, and who can solve problems creatively and work in different settings (practical and classroom‑based).

Qualifications & Experience
  • Holds or is willing to work toward a Level 2 Learner Support Certificate.
  • Level 2 qualifications in Maths and English.
  • Experience supporting individuals in educational settings, particularly 16‑19 aged learners and those with learning difficulties and/or disabilities, and a good understanding of inclusive learning.
Main Tasks & Responsibilities
  • Implement highly effective strategies to support diverse additional learning needs within the centre, promote independence, and tailor these to each learner’s EHCP, support plan, initial assessment, and individual targets.
  • Assist teaching staff in delivering outstanding teaching and learning to ensure learners achieve their planned outcomes.
  • Interpret instructions effectively to support learners in following these and assist with communication challenges.
  • Maintain accurate, timely departmental records and contribute to the setting and monitoring of individual targets.
  • Provide support with study skills, pastoral needs and community access 1:1 or in small groups.
  • Support learners in engaging with work experience opportunities.
  • Adhere to confidentiality guidelines and college policies for SEND, health and safety, equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) and safeguarding.
  • Contribute to the work of the centre team, attend curriculum events and centre meetings.
  • Access training and professional development activities to stay up to date, including SEND‑specific options.
Legal & Safeguarding Responsibilities
  • Uphold confidentiality of client and staff information in line with GDPR and the General Data Protection Regulation Act.
  • Adhere to the Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy, Safer Recruitment Policies, and preventing discrimination for all stakeholders.
  • Participate in Safer Recruitment Checks and DBS processes as required for the role.
