Highways Design Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Highways Design Engineer to support the delivery of a wide range of highways, traffic engineering and active travel schemes
.

This role is ideal for an engineer looking to take ownership of projects while working collaboratively with clients and internal design teams.

• Design and deliver highway improvement, traffic engineering and active travel schemes
• Produce design drawings, reports and supporting technical documentation
• Organise and undertake site visits, surveys and investigations
• Deliver projects to agreed timescales and budgets
• Ensure compliance with quality, Health & Safety and Environmental standards
• Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams and sub-consultants
• Work collaboratively with clients to develop project objectives and technical solutions
• Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders

• Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent experience
• Minimum 6 years’ experience in highways design
• Strong understanding of Local Highway Authority standards
• Commercial awareness in project delivery
• Experience mentoring or supporting junior engineers
• Working knowledge of programme tools such as ASTA
• Knowledge of DMRB, Manual for Streets, LTN 1/20 and related guidance
• Experience using AutoCAD (drainage, alignment and traffic signage experience desirable)
