We're working with a well-established civil engineering contractor who is looking to appoint a Senior Planning Engineer to join their team, based out of their head office in Ipswich. This is a key role within the business, supporting both pre-construction and project delivery teams. You'll be responsible for developing robust construction programmes, advising on methodology, and helping shape winning tenders. The role would suit someone with strong civil engineering site experience who can translate practical delivery knowledge into effective planning and programme development.
Key Responsibilities- Review tender documentation in detail and develop practical, efficient delivery strategies.
- Produce construction programmes that reflect the most effective sequence and methodology.
- Explore alternative build methods and contribute ideas during tender stage discussions.
- Support the pre-construction team with bid writing and programme narratives.
- Assess subcontractor packages for buildability and compliance with tender requirements.
- Produce and maintain supporting documentation aligned to project constraints.
- Provide technical input on planning, construction methods and engineering solutions.
- Keep up to date with industry developments, innovations and relevant legislation.
- Proven background working on civil engineering projects at site level.
- HNC (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies and project sequencing.
- Able to work collaboratively within a pre-construction / delivery environment.
- Effective communicator with the ability to present programmes clearly.
- Experience using planning software such as Asta Power project or Microsoft Project (training can be provided where needed).
