TXM Recruit are recruiting a permanent Wheel Lathe Operative based in Ipswich.

Shifts:

Shift Roster 3 on 3 off 24/7 Day (06:00 – 18:00) and Night (18:00 – 06:00) rotation

Salary: £43,187k - Overtime is paid at time and a quarter.

We are looking for individuals from a rail or rolling stock background predominantly however individuals from the following Industries considered:
Rolling Stock / RAIL/ Royal Navy / RAF / REME / British Army/ General Engineering/Aerospace/Automotive who have experience within the field of mechanical engineering.

Purpose of Job

Carry out the re-profiling of Wheel Sets. Work to controlled documents and requirements which meet the standards and legalities of the Railway Network.

Responsible for the Wheel Lathe maintenance at operator level, controlling movements within the facility also working to MIE 0503 and CSD

Adhere to health and safety and local safety policy requirements, and other safety and technical standards. Comply with all instructions, rules and regulations in force.

Carry out the machining of Rail Wheel Sets with the approved maintenance plans as required by the local manager.

Ensure all relevant paperwork for examinations and repairs is correctly completed on time and to required company standards.

Ensure that materials issued to locomotives and wagons are recorded and reported accurately.

Take due care and attention to all tools and instrumentation used.

Participate in all relevant training and competency assessment that the post holder is nominated for.

Assist in the upkeep of maintenance vehicle history files either electronically or hard copies.

Assist Team Leaders (under their direction) as required during maintenance and tyre turning events.

Attend safety/quality and technical briefings as required.

Proactively undertake general duties relative to cleanliness of workshop areas, mess room, toilets etc in line with 5S requirements.

Experience & Knowledge Requirements

At least 3 years broadly based experience of an Engineering background, including machining, meticulous record keeping and working to tight tolerances.

Qualifications and Training

NVQ Level 3 Mechanical Engineering or equivalent

All candidates will be required to carry out a medical and drugs & alcohol test
