Our client is delivering a key package of rail and civil engineering works on the nationally significant Sizewell C infrastructure project. The works involve the upgrade of multiple level crossings and associated rail infrastructure improvements along the Sizewell Branch Line, supporting the wider construction programme for the new nuclear power station.

We are seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join the project team on a contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a major UK infrastructure scheme with a strong pipeline of work through 2026 and beyond.

Key Responsibilities
  • Setting out and surveying for rail and civil engineering works.
  • Producing and maintaining accurate site records.
  • Managing QA documentation and inspection test plans (ITPs).
  • Supporting site management with daily planning and progress reporting.
  • Monitoring subcontractor performance and ensuring works are delivered to specification.
  • Interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Assisting with temporary works coordination where required.
  • Ensuring all works are completed in line with project quality and safety standards.
  • Liaising with project managers, supervisors, subcontractors, and client representatives.
Essential Requirements
  • Previous experience working as a Site Engineer on rail civil infrastructure projects.
  • Strong setting out and surveying experience using Leica or Trimble equipment.
  • Ability to produce accurate as‑built records.
  • Understanding of QA processes and engineering documentation.
  • Must hold valid PTS/Sentinel competency.
  • Valid CSCS Card.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
Desirable Requirements
  • Previous experience on Network Rail or other rail infrastructure projects.
  • HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Experience working on lineside civils, enabling works, piling, level crossings etc.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS certification.
