About the role

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Ground Engineering team to join the Geotechnical Sub Alliance, part of the Sizewell C project. This role is based out of our offices at Orwell Logistics Park, Ipswich.

Role purpose: The Senior Quantity Surveyor will play a key commercial role within the GSA, supporting the Managing Surveyor in delivering robust commercial governance, accurate cost management, and high-quality commercial intelligence across
assigned work packages.
This role bridges responsibility between delivering commercial outputs directly and providing guidance to Quantity Surveyors within the team. The Senior QS will ensure effective contractual administration, maintain accurate forecasting, and proactively manage risk and opportunity to protect and enhance project value.

What you'll be doing

The successful applicant will have the following key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Manage commercial activities across allocated work packages, ensuring effective cost control, accurate measurement, and strong financial governance;
  • Prepare, review, and validate cost value reconciliations, forecasts, and reports to support informed decision-making;
  • Oversee subcontractor account management, including change control, valuations, supplier performance, and payment applications;
  • Administer NEC4 contracts, including early warnings, compensation events, contractual communications, and change management processes;
  • Work closely with project teams to identify, assess, record, and manage change in a timely and accurate manner;
  • Maintain high-quality commercial records and documentation, ensuring compliance, audit readiness, and alignment with industry requirements;
  • Support procurement activity by preparing tender documentation, evaluating submissions, negotiating terms, and making recommendations;
  • Collaborate with engineering, planning, delivery, and commercial teams to ensure cost, programme, and project objectives remain aligned;
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities, supporting mitigation plans, claims evidence, and dispute avoidance where required;
  • Provide guidance and technical support to Quantity Surveyors and Assistant Quantity Surveyors, helping develop capability across the team.

Who we're looking for

The successful applicant will have the following knowledge, experience and qualifications:

  • A Quantity Surveyor with a BSc/MSc in Quantity Surveying, equivalent experience or a relevant professional background;
  • Someone with demonstrable Quantity Surveying experience and the confidence to take on increasing autonomy and responsibility;
  • Experience working with NEC contracts, with the ability to manage commercial processes accurately and effectively;
  • Knowledge of piling, geotechnical, civil engineering, or related infrastructure environments would be highly beneficial;
  • Strong experience producing commercial reports, CVRs, cost forecasts and supporting accurate financial management;
  • A commercially focused individual with a strong understanding of governance, delay, disruption, productivity and associated cost impacts;
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with strong attention to detail;
  • A collaborative and organised team player who can work independently, influence decisions and support or mentor junior colleagues.
