This is an opportunity to join one of the UK's most significant infrastructure programmes - Sizewell C - a once-in-a-generation clean energy project that will help power over 6 million homes for decades to come.
Working within the Civil Works Alliance (a partnership between Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O'Rourke), you'll play a key role in developing and delivering construction methodologies across the Main Civil Works programme.
As a Methods Lead, you'll be responsible for leading the development of safe, efficient and buildable construction solutions, supporting both pre-construction and delivery phases. You'll work closely with engineering, design, planning and construction teams to ensure robust methodologies are developed, optimised and successfully implemented on site, while leading and developing a team of Methods Engineers.
What You'll Be Doing?- Leading the development of construction methodologies and sequencing for major civil engineering works
- Producing and overseeing site construction method statements (RAMS), building on pre-construction methodologies
- Supporting constructability reviews, value engineering and options studies with design and delivery teams
- Leading and managing a team of Methods Engineers and Digital Engineers to support construction delivery
- Championing "Safe by Design" and engineered safety principles across all methodologies
- Working closely with design teams to understand constraints and develop practical, buildable solutions
- Collaborating with planning, commercial, procurement, HSE and construction teams to ensure alignment across project delivery
- Supporting the development of innovative construction techniques, including prefabrication and bespoke solutions
- Engaging with stakeholders across the project to ensure methodologies meet technical, statutory and programme requirements
- Capturing and implementing lessons learned and best practice from comparable major infrastructure projects
- Significant experience in methods engineering, construction engineering or temporary works within major civil engineering or infrastructure projects
- Proven experience in a leadership role, managing and developing engineering or methods teams
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing and buildability
- Experience producing detailed method statements, sketches and construction methodologies
- Knowledge of reinforced concrete construction, prefabrication techniques and associated temporary works
- Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements within construction
- Experience working collaboratively with design teams, subcontractors and multidisciplinary project teams
- Proficiency in CAD and experience using 3D modelling tools such as Revit and Navisworks
- Strong communication, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. ICE) would be advantageous
- Experience with in nuclear or other highly regulated environments would be beneficial, but not essential
- Be part of one of the UK's largest and most complex infrastructure projects
