The Technical Sales Engineer role is required in Ipswich for our client, a rapidly expanding engineering business operating across the manufacturing and engineering components sector. The business supplies a wide range of components to manufacturers and distributors throughout the UK and Ireland, covering mechanical power transmission, hydraulic components, agricultural trailer parts and bespoke engineered products.
This is a junior-level opportunity, ideally suited to an engineering graduate, apprentice or candidate with an engineering qualification looking to develop a career combining technical engineering with customer-facing and commercial responsibilities. Full training and development will be provided, with the role offering the opportunity to progress into a more autonomous technical sales position over time.
Technical Sales Engineer Job Overview
? Provide technical engineering support and advice to the internal sales team.
? Support Business Development Managers with quotations and customer enquiries requiring technical input.
? Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal teams to understand technical requirements and identify suitable engineering solutions.
? Assist with the analysis, preparation and management of technical drawings using Solid Works.
? Accompany Business Development Managers on customer visits, providing technical support and gaining experience in working with customers' engineers and purchasing teams.
? Develop towards conducting customer visits independently and providing technical advice directly to customers.
? Assist with new product introductions, including supporting Product Line Managers with technical information and training.
? Support the management of key OEM customer accounts, helping to resolve technical queries and product quality issues.
? Assist with the management and organisation of engineering drawings within the company's drawing management system.
? Support product quality activities, including product inspection, segregation and minor product modifications where required.
? Assist with the management of material certificates and associated customer documentation.
? Support the company's ISO and product quality management processes.

Job Requirements
? Engineering qualification such as an HNC, HND, degree, apprenticeship or equivalent.
? Suitable for engineering graduates, apprentices or candidates at the beginning of their engineering career.
? An interest in developing a career combining engineering, technical support and customer interaction.
? Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and technical information.
? Some experience or knowledge of 3D CAD, ideally Solid Works, would be advantageous.
?

Good analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical approach to engineering issues.
? Strong communication skills and the confidence to build relationships with customers, suppliers and colleagues.
? Organised and able to manage multiple technical enquiries and tasks.
? Previous technical sales or field-based sales experience is not essential, as training and development will be provided.
? Willingness to develop towards a customer-facing technical role and undertake occasional travel to customer sites.
