Overview

Are you an expert in communicating risk management concepts in a way that is simple and accessible? We’re recruiting for a Distribution and Underwriting Risk Manager in the AXA Commercial Risk team. Reporting to the Head of Governance and Control, you’ll work with them to make effective risk management simple and accessible to all staff within AXA Commercial. You’ll be part of a team of risk experts working closely with colleagues across all lines of defence to understand the key components of the AXA UK risk framework, how they apply to AXA Commercial and implementing these in a simple and clear way.

Responsibilities
  • Enable and influence our Distribution and Underwriting teams to identify and embed robust risk management, providing guidance and advice focused on the specific risks and issues posed by distribution and underwriting activities delivered by AXA Commercial within Schemes and Delegated Authorities (SDA), Direct, SME, and the Distribution and Trading teams.
  • Ensure the consistent application and delivery of the UK risk frameworks and policies across all business areas, including clear accountability, and lead day-to-day engagement with one or more trading areas within AXA Commercial.
  • Work with the 2nd line of defence risk team to embed the risk framework in distribution channels in a proportionate and effective way.
  • Deliver timely and insightful risk reporting to enable risk owners to understand risk exposure and prioritise activity in line with appetite.
  • Understand key strategy and change activity within the respective distribution channels and ensure effective risk management is in place for these initiatives.
  • Support planning, prioritisation and coordination of key risk activity delivered through the Distribution and Underwriting Risk team.
  • Be the voice of the customer within the distribution channels to ensure business decisions deliver good and fair outcomes for customers.
  • Drive leadership engagement, building risk awareness and risk maturity of the business unit.
  • Coach and partner with in-scope business areas to ensure Executive/Risk Owners discharge their accountabilities with accurate data-driven risk assessment and management toward tolerance.
What you’ll bring
  • Ability to communicate risk management concepts clearly and accessibly, and influence at all levels to foster a risk-aware and customer-focused culture.
  • Drive engagement and deliver outcomes to a high standard across the business unit.
  • Ability to process, collate and present large volumes of data clearly to drive meaningful action.
  • Proven track record of delivering through others, coaching and developing direct reports and staff in wider risk roles.
  • Knowledge of FCA/PRA requirements and expectations with a focus on operational and insurance risk.
  • Commercial and pragmatic outlook, able to work at pace and deliver results.
  • Experience of governance and how to structure and deliver it, providing oversight of risk and control frameworks, policies and standards.
  • Keen attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.
