Cost Assurance Assistant Opportunity with the Civil Works Alliance (CWA), Supporting Sizewell C
As part of the CWA (Civil Works Alliance), you will support the building of Sizewell
C. Sizewell C will be a 3.2-gigawatt power station generating low-carbon electricity for around 6 million homes and will play a key role in our energy future, supplying reliable, clean electricity for at least 60 years. This role will be within the CWA Wide Section.
What will you do?
The Cost Assurance Assistant helps protect the project budget and cash flow. He will support the Independent Cost Verifier team who will review costs, check invoices, and make sure all financial records match contract rules. This work supports safe, on-time, and within-budget delivery of complex nuclear building tasks.
The successful candidate will gain practical experience in project financial management, cost reporting, forecasting, financial controls, auditing, and business partnering. Working alongside experienced finance professionals, the role will provide exposure to a large-scale construction projects and the financial disciplines required to deliver them successfully.
Key responsibilities:
Audit Support:
Help gather financial documents and data for internal and external cost audits.
Reporting:
Prepare follow up dashboards, charts, and summaries of variances for the IP’s and CWA Commercial and Finance Team.
Compliance:
Ensure all financial and procurement actions follow internal procedures.
What are we looking for?
Essential:
Education:
A degree in Finance, or a related field.
Experience:
Basic experience in cost control, auditing within construction or engineering.
Data Literacy:
Strong skills in Microsoft Excel and cost management software.
Attention to Detail:
High accuracy in handling numbers, contracts, and financial records.
Communication:
Clear verbal and written skills to discuss costs with ICV teams.
Desirable
Nuclear Background:
Prior work on nuclear or highly regulated infrastructure projects.
Contract Knowledge:
Familiarity with standard construction contracts like NEC or FIDIC.
Advanced Tools:
Experience with SAP or specialized cost-tracking databases.
