Job

Job Function:
Business Operations

Job Location:

Ipswich, Pegasus Tower, G

Advertised Salary: £45,000 - £65,000 + BT Benefits

About the role

At BT, we’re delivering some of the UK's most critical and technically complex digital infrastructure and secure platform solutions. As part of this work, we’re looking for a Technical Delivery Manager to join our Digital team and play a key role in delivering technical projects for specialist customer environments.

This is a delivery-focused role that combines technical project leadership with stakeholder coordination across multiple teams. You’ll be responsible for managing the end-to-end delivery of cloud and data centre-based solutions, ensuring projects are delivered to agreed timelines, budgets and customer requirements.

Working alongside designers, architects, infrastructure specialists, support teams and delivery colleagues, you’ll act as the central point of coordination across technical work streams. You’ll help turn customer requirements into successful outcomes while supporting BT’s contractual commitments on large-scale, high-value programmes.

If you’re an experienced Technical Project Manager with a passion for delivering complex technical solutions and enjoy working across a broad range of stakeholders, we’d love to hear from you.

What you’ll be doing
  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of technical projects within secure customer environments.
  • Coordinate technical work streams across infrastructure, applications, support and design teams.
  • Review and interpret customer requirements to ensure successful delivery outcomes.
  • Develop, maintain and manage project plans, timelines, dependencies and risks.
  • Drive project delivery through virtual teams and third-party stakeholders.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure delivery against agreed milestones and contractual commitments.
  • Identify and resolve delivery issues, escalating risks where appropriate.
  • Work closely with customers and internal stakeholders to provide updates and manage expectations.
  • Support the delivery of cloud and data centre environments for specialist customer requirements.
  • Ensure delivery activities comply with governance, security and operational standards.
  • Manage multiple competing priorities across a varied technical project portfolio.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across delivery processes and practices.
  • Produce clear reporting and management information for project and senior stakeholders.
  • Support successful transition of solutions into operational service.
Essential Skills / Experience
  • Proven experience delivering end-to-end technical projects from initiation through to completion.
  • Strong Technical Project Management or Technical Delivery Management experience.
  • Experience coordinating cross-functional technical teams in a matrix environment.
  • Ability to understand technical project requirements and translate them into delivery plans.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Experience managing project risks, issues, dependencies and governance processes.
  • Ability to work across multiple delivery methodologies and adapt to changing project requirements.
  • Strong organisational and planning skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience delivering infrastructure, cloud, hosting or data centre-related projects.
  • Ability to influence and drive outcomes without direct line management responsibility.
  • Strong commercial awareness and understanding of delivering against contractual commitments.
  • Eligible and willing to obtain the required security clearance.
Desirable Skills / Experience
  • Experience working within secure or highly regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies and modern infrastructure platforms.
  • Understanding of information security and compliance requirements.
  • Experience delivering services for government, defence, telecommunications or critical infrastructure customers.
  • Familiarity with Agile, Waterfall or hybrid delivery methodologies.
  • Technical background in infrastructure, servers, networking or platform technologies.
  • Experience working on large-scale or multi-million-pound technology programmes.
  • Knowledge of service transition and operational readiness processes.
Important Information

This role is based in Ipswich and follows BT's hybrid 3:2 working model.

Due to the nature of the work, successful candidates will be required to obtain the appropriate security clearance.
