As we continue our digital and data transformation, we’re looking to recruit a Fire ICT Engineer to join our Fire ICT Team. Your role and responsibilities Working in Fire ICT, your days will be varied and busy, and will include tasks such as:
Maintaining specialised systems such as radio communications, telephony (including Integrated Communication Control System), and emergency alerting platforms.
Providing technical support for IT infrastructure, networking, systems, and data centre technologies including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and monitoring.
Participating in ICT projects and, following training, joining the on-call rota to support critical systems out of hours.
Implementing security measures to protect data integrity and confidentiality, ensuring compliance with ICT policies and regulations.
Responding to ITSM tickets daily, resolving issues where possible and escalating with full details to senior engineers, Fire ICT Managers or third parties.

The Fire ICT Team looks after the critical blue light systems that keep Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service running. This includes the technology that alerts personnel to incidents, the mobile data terminals on fire engines that provide live information at the incident ground, our communication platforms (including mobile, Airwave and WiFi), and the systems that capture operational data used across the organisation to monitor and improve performance.
Based at Ipswich East Fire Station on The Havens, Ransomes Europark, the team supports equipment and systems across all thirty-five fire stations in Suffolk, as well as our primary and secondary Fire Control locations.
