Job Overview

Senior Buyer – Supporting Sizewell C, part of the Civil Works Alliance (CWA). This role supports the building of Sizewell C, a 3.2‑GW low‑carbon power station set to generate electricity for about 6 million homes for 60 years. The position is within the Enabling and Earthwork Section and focuses on end‑to‑end procurement of subcontract packages, including strategy development, RFQ/ITT preparation, evaluation, award recommendation, contract drafting and execution, and performance management.

• Development and delivery of procurement strategies for project‑wide and/or high‑value packages.
• Implementation of procurement strategies and processes.
• Carry out the procurement process for complex packages in accordance with procurement and supply‑chain management strategies.
• Establish project governance.
• Lead the coordination of commercial and technical reviews of tender returns.
• Work with commercial teams on contract negotiation and conduct commercial checks for suppliers and past performance.
• Provide robust recommendations for formal award approval.
• Draft, issue and execute contracts in line with project procurement guidelines and governance.
• Develop and maintain the project supplier database – conduct market assessments, track engagement effectiveness, pre‑qualification status and bid‑support performance.
• Develop local, diverse and SME engagement strategies.
• Assist in hosting Meet the Buyer events and community advertising.
• Support the Local Sustainable Procurement Plan through liaison with Parent Company experts.
• Apply a consistent approach to responsible procurement of goods and services, ensuring compliance with professional standards, current legislation and nuclear regulations.
• Manage supply‑chain performance and reporting.

• Substantial experience of complex procurement processes within construction or major‑project environments.
• Experience in designing and delivering category and/or procurement package strategies to a high and consistent level.
• Proven track record of managing supplier relationships, negotiation and process compliance.
