As an integral part of the safety team reporting to the National Safety Manager, you will support the delivery of our Health and Safety Improvement Plan.
Further responsibilities include:
- Role modeling visible felt leadership and ensuring safety and health systems and processes are understood and implemented effectively by the line.
- Maintaining a working knowledge of relevant safety and health legislation, trends and new initiatives impacting on the business.
- Monitoring, measuring, tracking and reporting on and closing out of corrective actions from risk assessments, investigations and audits.
- Providing advice, coaching and development to managers and supervisors to develop their safety and health knowledge and capability.
- Yearly participation in detailed internal audits of sites throughout Australia.
- Assisting and supporting line management with safety incident investigations, including the determination and tracking of correct and preventative measures.
- Assisting and supporting line management in identifying, assessing, controlling and reviewing health and safety hazards.
To be successful in this role you will need:
- A Diploma of WHS and/or a commensurate level of experience and willingness to gain appropriate qualifications.
- Previous experience in a safety or related leadership role within a high-risk environment. e.g. quarrying, mining, oil & gas or heavy industrial manufacturing is preferred but not essential.
- Relevant experience in behavioural safety and/or Critical Risk Management programmes.
- Current knowledge of OH&S legislation and practices.
- Demonstrated ability to drive and promote Holcim's We Keep Each Other Safe culture.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation and influencing skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels, and with all functions.
- Willingness to regularly travel to Rockhampton and Townsville to coach and mentor site leaders to effectively manage risk.
