The Opportunity

This is a transformational opportunity for an experienced multi‑site Commercial Operations Manager to join our Commercial Operations Team. Leading the development and implementation of financial and operational plans in line with the organisation’s long‑term strategic goals to strengthen and optimise our Commercial position.

Working closely with the Head of Commercial Operations, you will play a key hands‑on role in creating and leading a structure to optimise commercial success. This role has a strong focus on operational efficiency, scalability and business redevelopment, implementing fit‑for‑purpose processes, identifying strategic growth opportunities, analysing data to inform decision‑making, and ensuring an excellent standard of customer experience as the business evolves.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Management - Develop and implement strategies to identify commercial opportunities. Oversee the smooth and efficient day‑to‑day operations of Community Op Shops. Develop, maintain & improve operational processes to enhance productivity and profitability. Monitor compliance with organisational policies, procedures & safety requirements.
  • Revenue Growth & Strategic Opportunities - Identify and lead new commercial revenue opportunities across retail & commercial channels. Monitor and respond to market trends, demographic shifts & competitor activity. Develop & implement initiatives to maximise revenue & operational efficiencies.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting - Analyse sales and operations performance metrics to identify strengths, weaknesses & improvement opportunities. Translate data into clear, actionable recommendations for operational change and investment potential. Prepare regular reports to support strategic decision‑making.
  • Stock Management & Merchandising - Oversee stock control processes to ensure appropriate inventory levels & effective stock rotation. Implement visual merchandising standards to optimise store presentation and customer experience. Implement stock management practices that improve sell‑through, reduce aged or unsaleable stock and maximise return per square metre.
  • Team Leadership & Collaboration - Foster a collaborative and high‑performing culture across Commercial Teams, by managing, leading, developing and providing guidance to all Team encompassing both paid and volunteer members. Lead by example, providing performance support to Teams, building operational capability and accountability as the business grows and evolves.
  • Commercial & Stakeholder Engagement - Communicate clearly and effectively with internal and external stakeholders. Build strong relationships with Team members, both internal & external partners. Ensure consistent messaging and alignment across all commercial operations.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
  • Experience in commercial operations management, or a similar role
  • Proven experience managing multi‑site commercial operations
  • Demonstrated success in revenue growth and operational improvement
  • Experience in delivering POS and inventory management system implementation would be an advantage
  • Experience with data analysis tools and commercial reporting platforms
  • Clear and precise communication skills, both written and verbal, along with negotiation & interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to lead change and manage projects
  • Demonstrated experience in operational improvement, process redesign & business transformation
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams
  • Experience working with volunteers, mixed workforce environments and multi‑site retail
  • High level of professionalism, discretion, and emotional intelligence
  • Flexibility to work a rotating roster as required
  • A valid driver’s licence and the commitment to attend all sites regularly
  • Approved Police and Vulnerable Persons Checks
