Responsibilities

As Green Access Manager you will play a pivotal leadership role in shaping how people experience, enjoy and access Suffolk's green network. You will develop and deliver an integrated access development programme that places sustainable transport, health and wellbeing at its heart, ensuring Public Rights of Way (PRoW) and off‑road walking, wheeling and cycling are fully embedded as priorities across the Local Transport Plan and other key strategies.

You will lead the renewal of the Rights of Way Improvement Plan, drive countywide access improvements for pedestrians, cyclists and equestrians, and spearhead the marketing and promotion of Suffolk's access opportunities, including the ongoing development of the Discover Suffolk website. Managing and motivating project staff, sourcing external funding and working collaboratively with partners will be central to the role, alongside building a national trail partnership to manage and promote the King Charles III England Coast Path.

Working closely with the PRoW and Access Operations Manager, you will champion healthy, sustainable travel choices and make a tangible difference to the quality of life for communities across Suffolk.

Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience
  • Excellent communication, networking and influencing skills
  • Excellent project management skills and experience covering multi‑partner projects
  • Ability to secure significant levels of external funding
  • Sound knowledge of rural affairs or exclusion issues
  • Ability to develop and evaluate strategic targets
  • Self‑motivated, capable of managing your own workload effectively within a team environment
  • Commitment to improving access to the natural environment and to creative sustainable access solutions
