Learning & Development Manager

Based at our Ipswich office, this is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and motivated Learning & Development Manager to lead and shape the organisation’s training and development strategy. In this key role, you will have full responsibility for the design, delivery, evaluation, and oversight of all learning and development activities across the organisation. Working closely with managers and stakeholders, you will ensure employees are equipped with the skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to excel in their roles and support the continued growth and success of the organisation.

The successful candidate will be passionate about developing people, proactive in identifying training needs, and committed to creating engaging learning programmes that drive performance, compliance, and professional development.

You will

  • Lead on mandatory training compliance and ensure readiness for CQC inspections.
  • Write and develop high-quality care training courses aligned to best practice.
  • Manage and support a team of trainers and training administrators.
  • Oversee training delivery for a geographically dispersed, remote workforce.
  • Deliver training sessions yourself, setting the standard for quality and engagement.
  • Drive continuous improvement in staff competency and development.

What You’ll Be Responsible For

  • Developing and implementing a robust Learning & Development strategy.
  • Ensuring 100% compliance with mandatory training requirements.
  • Monitoring, reporting, and improving training performance across services.
  • Leading induction programmes, including the Care Certificate.
  • Supporting managers to embed learning into everyday practice.
  • Managing a team of trainers and administrators that will grow as the business grows.
  • Preparing the organisation for CQC inspections and audits.
  • Identifying skills gaps and building clear development pathways for staff.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar Learning & Development role within health and social care.
  • An recognised training/teaching qualification (e.g. AET, PTLLS, Cert Ed, or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in designing and delivering care‑specific training.
  • Strong knowledge of CQC standards and compliance requirements.
  • Experience managing mandatory training systems and compliance.
  • Experience leading or managing a team.
  • Ability to oversee training for a remote or dispersed workforce.
  • Knowledge of e‑learning systems or LMS platforms.
