We are one of the largest NHS organisations in England, providing care across east Suffolk and north Essex. Our day surgery unit is fast‑paced and patient‑focused, supporting patients through pre‑assessment, admission, recovery and discharge.
Job overviewWe’re looking for a compassionate, skilled Day Surgery Nurse to join our unit. You’ll play a key role in delivering high‑quality perioperative care, supporting patients through pre‑assessment, admission, recovery, and discharge.
This is an excellent opportunity for a nurse who thrives in a structured environment, enjoys short‑stay patient pathways, and values teamwork and efficiency. South theatres specialise in general surgery and urology. We have 8 theatres, 7 for elective surgery and 1 for emergency surgery.
Main duties of the job- Provide safe, evidence‑based nursing care throughout the day surgery journey
- Conduct pre‑operative assessments and ensure patients are fully prepared for procedures
- Assist with admissions, patient education, and discharge planning
- Monitor patients recognising and responding to changes in condition
- Work collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, and multidisciplinary team
- Maintain accurate documentation and uphold clinical governance standards
- Contribute to a positive, supportive, and patient‑centred environment
