Job Summary

The City of Iqaluit is seeking an experienced individual to join the Administration team as the Community Communications Liaison. The role serves as a vital link between residents and the organization, advocating for Nunavut Inuit and local residents.

Responsibilities
  • Create and coordinate city communications, including content for website and social media, and support internal and external audiences.
  • Connect residents with city services and support, coordinate customer service delivery, and resolve customer issues.
  • Work with city departments to ensure positive resident experiences and evaluate and implement communication processes.
  • Assist in strengthening Iqaluit as an Inuit and cultural capital, promote Inuit culture in the workplace and community.
  • Help the City meet language obligations under the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement.
  • Assist in the implementation of the City’s Inuit Employment Plan (IEP) and recruitment/retention of Inuit staff.
Qualifications
  • College Diploma or University Degree in Communications, Cultural Studies, Business Administration or related field.
  • Minimum 2 years’ work experience in a municipal, territorial, federal government or non‑profit environment involving communications, programs or service delivery.
  • Fluency in Inuktitut and English; experience communicating confidently with residents and staff.
  • Excellent problem‑solving, conflict‑resolution and professional writing skills.
  • Computer literate with knowledge of MS Office Suite, file management systems.
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of Iqaluit’s history.
Other Requirements
  • Priority will be given to Nunavut Inuit. Candidates must identify their eligibility in order to receive consideration.
  • All relevant certifications required at time of application.
  • Criminal Record Check required.
Benefits & Conditions

Unionized position. Settlement allowance: $20,907.43 per annum. No staff housing available. Application is open until filled. No resumes will be accepted at City Hall due to Covid‑19 precautions.
