Reporting to the Director, Public Safety Programs, the Community Safety and Policing Specialist designs, develops, implements, and evaluates justice policies and programs related to community safety and policing across Nunavut. The position leads community safety initiatives that foster community safety partnerships, engage citizens and communities in territorial policing, and support community safety planning. Working collaboratively with government departments, municipalities, Inuit Organizations, the RCMP, and community partners, the position provides policy advice, develops programs and strategic initiatives, coordinates policing priorities, and supports evidence-based approaches to community safety, crime prevention, and public safety throughout Nunavut.
