Staffing Officer
Reporting to the Staffing Supervisor, the Staffing Officer performs a supporting role in the staffing unit by planning, preparing and delivering recruitment and staffing services for all positions located in Iqaluit to ensure the GN has a qualified and increasing representative public service. Working collaboratively with the Staffing Supervisor and the Staffing Consultants, the Staffing Officer will provide the staffing unit with front‑end support on competitive staffing services for client departments.
This employment opportunity is restricted to Nunavut Inuit who reside in Iqaluit only.
Major Responsibilities for the Staffing Officer Include- Consulting with client Departments in headquarters regarding methods for filling and staffing entry‑intermediate level positions
- Reviewing staff requisitions for positions of at all levels for data verification and to initiate a competition file
- Selecting methods of recruitment and the area/scope of competition
- Facilitating the Selection Committee’s participation throughout the hiring process to ensure the adherence to GN policies, procedures and Article 23 provisions and to inform each committee member of their respective roles
- Entering, verifying and completing full requisition activity into the HCM Oracle Cloud Fusion to ensure timely data integrity
- Supporting the Staffing Consultants by preparing competition files to action, assists them throughout the process and monitors the execution of the process as required
- Participating in career fairs, trade shows and job fairs as needed
The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this job are usually obtained through a recognized diploma in human resource management, business administration or related field, plus two (2) years of experience in an office setting with exposure to human resource activities and/or recruitment and staffing processes.
The Official Languages of Nunavut are Inuktut, English and French. Applicants may submit their resume in any of the official languages of Nunavut. Fluency in Inuktitut is required for the position. Knowledge of Inuit communities, culture, land, Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit, Inuktut and experience working in a northern cross‑cultural environment are also considered assets.
